Points on tackling safely and effectively

Tackling is fundamental to football, and should receive proper attention at practices. If you, or your players don't take tackling seriously you will not stop the offense and could also cause injuries. Here are three important steps to practice:

First, plant yourself in front of your opponent. An excellent technique is to plant your foot in the middle of your opponents. Also, at this time thrust your arms backward to prepare for the next step.

Second, push your other foot keeping your knees low and bent, and in sync with your feet throw your hands up hard around the offensive player. As your feet plants your head should be making its first contact. To protect yourself never, ever try to tackle with the crown of your head, but instead keep your head back, and your head square. Tell yourself, or your players to imagine that they are biting the football.

Third, throw your hips up and hard as you drive the offensive player backwards. Setting yourself up for this last step will ultimately prove the success in the tackle.

Across the plains where there is open land, or across the seas where there is no land, the wind is able to move at high speeds. This is due to there not being any buildings or homes in the area to break it up. This is the perfect location for wind power to be generated and collected.

With the high risk involved in the line of farming and ranching, it is understandable why so many of them do it. This is less stressful than hoping for a good crop in the field or that the price of meat does not decline on the market.

Installing these types of windmills to generate the power though is fairly expensive. It is also a time consuming process due to the sheer size of them. When you see them from an airplane or driving down a main highway you will not realize just how enormous they are. On average they are approximately 200 to 250 feet from the ground.

The largest wind turbine in the world is located in Hawaii. It is more than 20 stories high. Each of the blades on the windmills are the size of a full football field. Each of the turbines located here is able to produce enough energy to offer electricity for 300 homes in the area.

If you get a chance though go drive into an area that features them so you can see with your own eyes how they really appear. In Iowa there are approximately 800 of them on what is know as wind farms. More than 200,000 homes are supplied with power from them. You will also find them in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Kansas, California, and Colorado.

When you watch the turbines spinning you will notice they turn counterclockwise. As the wind blows the shaft is engaged which is connected to a generator. As the blades turn this generator will move the power created along to the locations on the grid. They are monitored and there is an emergency shut off for them as well

Diversity is a major issue in our society these days. Inclusion and equity are important factors to promote in many companies. I tell the ladies in the audience that I will present profiles of two different men. Bachelor number one likes sports and drinks beer. He's known as the 'Sports & Beer' guy. He loves sports so much that if given the chance, he will ramble on and on with NFL (National Football League) or NBA (National Basketball Association) statistics all night long during a date. He won't want to talk about anything else once he starts talking about sports.

The Sports & Beer guy is also a typical 'meat and potatoes' type of man, preferring to stick with very standard cuisine with a few bottles of beer of course. The Sports & Beer guy will not be willing to venture into any ethnic restaurant and doesn't know too much about other cultures. He hasn't traveled outside of North America much.

Bachelor number two also like sports and beer. However, unlike bachelor number one, he has traveled to many different places around the world. He has been exposed to many different foreign cultures, people, food, customs and languages. He might even be able to speak a foreign language. This man is definitely more 'worldly' than the first one.

Unlike the Sports & Beer guy, the Mr. Worldly enjoys experiencing ethnic cuisines and feels very comfortable in any ethnic restaurant. He does like a good steak every now and then but also likes to try out many other types of food from different cultures.

I then ask the women to choose which bachelor they think would be a more interesting date based on just these characteristics of the two men. And not surprising, most ladies in my audiences always overwhelmingly vote in favor for Mr. Worldly.

This proves that if a man immerses himself with culture and develops the diversity skills to be able to interact well with people from different cultures, he will probably be considered more sexy than other men who are much more narrow in their cultural exposures. A diverse environment will allow a person to experience many different cultures if one is willing to.

This will work both ways as well since more cultured and sophisticated women can also appear sexier than those who are not adventurous enough to appreciate diversity in their lives. Let's face it, anybody who has experienced the world is always more interesting to talk to compared to somebody who hasn't ventured out of the home state or province. This proves that diversity is sexy.

We have seen it happening over last 20 years: tuition costs for universities and colleges spiraling out of control. These increases bear no resemblance to the inflation index over this period and they are now at the point where higher education for many must seem like a dream rather than a certainty. However, talented student athletes are still able to find strategies to make college both affordable and more enjoyable.

Many opportunities at all levels of competition are available at the college level for student athletes. But it still is, after all, a numbers game.

First the good news. There are over 408,000 student athletes participating in intercollegiate athletics in the three levels of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. These levels are Divisions I, II and III. And this does not even include the over 45,000 student athletes participating in athletics at the NAIA level. The NCAA has over 1,000 member colleges and universities fielding teams in 28 men's and 27 women's sports. At present, there are 17,713 teams fielded in the NCAA.

Now, unfortunately, the bad news. During the 2008-2009 academic year there were a total 4,422,622 boy high school athletes and 3,114,091 girl student athletes competing in the United States. Take basketball for example. There are 17,869 boys high school teams and 17,582 girls teams. Over 1.1 million boys played high school football last year.

So how is an aspiring student athlete supposed to stand out in this very large crowd? How can she or he increase their chances for being recruited and having a chance to "Play for College" rather than pay for college?

There's a very strong idea out there that a guy has to "entertain" a girl to win her interest - and therefore have any chance of getting her into bed. Total nonsense! But it's short-lived because women aren't prone to respect guys who feel they have to "entertain" just to win the "priveledge" of being able to talk to them.

Stop Being a Butt-Kisser

Look, I'm not saying talk to women like they're truck drivers. Or treat them like dirt in an attempt to show what a man you are (Sidenote: That's actually just showing what a little boy you are). What I mean is stop kissing butt and bending over backwards to try and please her. Yes, she might be hot, but she may not actually be a nice person. Do you want to compromise yourself just for "the chance" to chat up a hottie? Someone you might find out later is total Hellspawn?

So What's the Solution?

You want to know how to attract beautiful women. The answer is simple: Be a man. You are a man, right? Just talk to women as if she were some other guy you'd just met; only without the swearing and references to sport and porn. (Sidenote: Any or all of those things might come later, but are a real turn-off for a gal the first time she meets you.)

Don't talk about your job for 3 hours. You do have a life outside work, right? Talk about that and then ask her whether she's into kayaking or rock-climbing or whatever. She may be, but she might be interested in trying it. And if she likes you, you've then got the opportunity to ask her out on a date right there! Nothing creepy, no rehearsed "routines," just normal conversation.
